On collegeboard’s website, it says that need based aid is determined by: religious affiliation. How ???

I think there might be special scholarships for, say, Methodists or Jewish students. However these are separate from Emory’s financial aid package. It’s not like you get less money if you’re Baptist, etc. Don’t worry too much.

CNI,

Rest assured, need-based financial aid is NOT determined by religious affiliation… it is determined based on demonstrated need. The demonstrated need is in turn assessed by each individual student’s financial circumstance. This is done by submission of CSS PROFILE and FAFSA forms, for determination of institutional and federal aid components. In addition, both the student and parents will be asked to submit copies of W-2 Forms and Federal Tax Returns.

Caveat emptor: This has always been true… don’t always believe everything you read, and especially in this age of the Internet, always consider the source of your information. If you want the most definitive answer, ask the best source of information. In this case, it would be Emory’s Office of Financial Aid, (404) 727-6039.
