financial aid disbursement at de anza CCC

Hi, I’m going to attend De Anza and wanted to know how do I receive my money? It says on the website that the money can either be put into a Higher One bank account or our own bank account on the disbursement date. Is the Higher One account beneficial and how do I choose which option I want? Do they also give checks? Thanks.

Higher One has been the subject of many complaints due to its excessive fees. If you’re financially sophisticated and can investigate how to avoid the fees, then you should be ok using it. But if you don’t have the time or interest to check into the complete terms and understand how the account works, then use your own bank account.

great thanks for the info. btw, how would I go about telling de anza to deposit the money into my personal bank account?

You will probably make a selection in your student portal. On this link, it says students can have their refunds issued to a Higher One account or a personal checking account - and if you choose neither, a paper check will be sent. Higher One is fastest, personal checking a day or two later, and paper checks 3 weeks later: [De Anza College :: Financial Aid :: Refund Information](http://www.deanza.edu/financialaid/Disbursementdates.html).
