Financial Aid + GPA

In the case of + & -, would an A- equate to a 3.7 when calculating GPA?
So when the Cal Grants are for students with a GPA of 3.0+, would a B- knock you out of the running even though it’s not technically a C?
Since I’m a freshman, will only my first quarter’s grades be considered since FAFSA and such are due on March 2nd while the winter quarter won’t end until March 18th?

bump bump bump

You only need to submit Cal Grant verification once and that’s the summer/year before your freshman year of college. It only checks your high school GPA. You never ever have to submit a Cal Grant verification form after that.

You do, however, need to fill out a FAFSA every year. Your college GPA will not affect any aid you receive from Cal Grants.

Does that mean that if we are in college and get like a 2.5 we will still get calgrant, regardless?

^ Yeah. Experience talking here. (Though, I think there may be some trouble if you drop below 2.0… But I think at that point, you better worry about academic probation and being kicked out.)

So basically financial aid and college GPA have no correlation whatsoever?

I don’t know about no correlation, but they haven’t stopped giving me a Cal Grant despite my low GPA. (Let’s just say, I’m not in danger of falling into academic probation, but not out of the “worry zone” GPA.)

I looked at the official Cal Grant site, and can’t seem to find any info about it, unless you’re a community college student.
