Financial Aid Help

Does Michigan already apply me for any scholarships that I qualified for within the University? I was accepted within the last 2 weeks, so when will I know? Also, my parents are divorced, so how would FASFA work? Should I apply for those Regent Scholarships, or am I already considered for those? I’m signed up on fastweb, but I haven’t started those yet.

Ty, I don’t know if you’re in-state or OOS, but please file the FAFSA immediately to be eligible for the maximum available financial aid. If you’re in-state, the processors need it filed BEFORE MARCH 1st for you to be eligible for any ‘state’ grants such as the M-competitive etc.
– Yes, you are automatically under consideration for merit aid, and will likely hear anytime over the next 8 weeks.
– How fafsa works for divorced family is your main custodial parent applies, using current tax info (so need to do taxes right away OR estimate based on last year’s tax.)
HOWEVER since Michigan also gives some of its own money to high-need students, you will also need to fill out the CSS – right away, if you didn’t do it in Oct. IN that case, BOTH parents will have to file information.

If you need further assistance, please contact the financial aid office a.s.a.p. to make sure they have everything they need as soon as possible to assist you in financing your education.
And congratulations!
