Financial Aid Help

Ok, well I am a junior in high school and I would just like to know this. I live with a single mom who is a nurse. She gets social security because my dad died but that will stop coming once I turn 18. I also have two other siblings that live with me and my mom. My mom makes probably around 700 a week I would say maybe a little less or a little more. What are the chances of me getting financial aid? And how much money around would it probably be if I qualified?

There are several types of financial aid - need based and merit based. I’m guessing you’re asking about need based which could consist of federal, state, and/or institutional funds. Your federal, and likely your state, aid will be based on your Expected Family Contribution number. To get an estimate of what that will be, you can use the fafsa4caster calculator or the one on College Board’s site. If your EFC comes in at $4619 (currently) or less, you will qualify for federal grants. Check with your state’s Dept of Higher Ed for their grant program info. Institutional aid depends entirely on which colleges you apply to.
