Financial Aid on AP Testing

Hi,

I’m new to collegeconfidential.com, so my apologies if I posted this thread in the wrong section. Anyhow, my family is having difficulties paying for my AP tests. I’m taking three this year, which sums up to $276 for all three tests in total. My father got laid off last year, but the requirement for the financial aid is around $40,000 in the PREVIOUS year. When he was working, his salary exceeded that amount, it was around 10,000 over. But this year, he is receiving a very small amount of money from the company each month. My mother works, but her income is very low, I believe around $17,000. I was wondering if College Board offers loans/grants to those who do not meet the requirement but still have problems paying for the tests. Please help me!

If I don’t receive aid/a loan/a grant, I might only take 2 tests, the ones that will give me credit for the prerequisite for the type of career I’m heading for. I was really looking forward to taking all three tests because I think I will do the best job on the AP USH one.

You can pay a lower rate if you receive free or reduced lunch.

I never applied for free or reduced lunch as I was not in need the years previous to this one.

If you are currently in need, you can apply right now. Then you would be eligible for the reduced price for the AP tests.

Free or reduced lunch is based on current income.

Free or reduced lunch may also help you for financial aid purposes. It’s a question on the FAFSA that could help you on 2 years worth of FAFSAs.
