Financial aid packet? What?

<p>I received this as an e-mail today. The e-mail was titled “Your [University Name Here] Financial Aid Packet and Informational Webinar”. </p>

Dear [name], </p>

<p>Financial aid notification letters for students who have filed the 2012-13 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) are now being mailed. All other packets will be mailed within the next few weeks.</p>

<p>The University is hosting an online information session on Sunday, March 25, at 7:00 p.m. CDT to provide an overview of the packet and answer any general questions you may have. You can attend the session at link.</p>

<p>Once you have received your University financial aid package and have had time to look through it, feel free to contact my office at phone # with specific questions. Your admission counselor will be contacting you to discuss your packet and to answer any questions you may have.</p>

<p>I haven’t received an official letter of acceptance yet or a phone call. But I just received this in my e-mail this morning. Is this a good sign? Is this an indicator that I was accepted? Why would they send me a financial aid packet if I wasn’t? For transfer students, there isn’t a way to check your application status online.</p>
