Financial Aid!plzzz reply!!!

Hi, I’m an International Student From MOROCCO, I plan to apply for AUBURN UNIVERSITY the next Academic YEAR, Actually my GPA is valued at 3.96/4.0 and my SAT is 2050. The Problem is that if I want to apply to Auubrn university I must Fill an Affidavit Form, that shows the financial support, but I can"t afford the money they want in the affidavit form. one other reason, is that I plan to benefit from one of the scholarships that AU Awards.
I want to ask you if I my application will be correct if I didn’t fill the Affidavit form, or or if I have filled it with the amount of money I have, And i If I will be considered for scholarships even if I didin’t sent the Affidavit form?

you have to send the affidavit form…it wont hurt your chances for getting the scholarships.

The Problem Is I have to put at least 31,840 $ in the Affidavit, But I can’t afford this amount of money!!!:frowning: I can only afford 20000$!!:(

If you don’t submit an affadavit and bank confirmation showing adequate funds are available (from you, your family, or some other sponsor), you cannot be granted a student visa. Since it will not be possible to admit you, I think it’s unlikely they would consider you for scholarships. Do you know someone who might help sponsor you?

My Uncle Is Actually a Permanent Resident In Florida!! But I want to say that I Can’t Attend This University Without Getting a Scholarship!!!

I think Auburn’s scholarship deadline was Dec 1st.

BTW…does Auburn award scholarships to int’ls?

Look again at the app deadline. Usually the finance stuff isn’t due with the app; it’s usually due around May.

How much can your parents pay each year?

Is your uncle willing to help pay for your education??

@Amine… You see this Ma’am, mom2collegekids. She is one of the best person to help in this CC. Follow her advice and you shall do good. It helped a lot in my case. I see that she has already posted on your thread…I’ll not embarrass myself by posting stuffs in your thread as I see that she is posting here too. She’s the best, nice and kind. Best of luck.

lol…thanks :)

Amine…

Although Auburn does award scholarships to int’ls, the deadline was Dec 1st. :frowning:

From the Auburn website: What we do offer is a limited number of scholarships to International Students who have excelled academically. International students who wish to be considered for scholarships for any Fall semester must apply by December 1 of the previous year.

What other schools are you applying to? There may be some that have later scholarship deadlines. Will you major in engineering?

Also, what is your Math + CR SAT? That is what schools often use for scholarship consideration. :)

Thxx Everybody, Actually I’m Planning to Apply for Fall 2011, so I have a Lot Of time!! Actually my SAT M=790;CR=700; and my GPA Is valued at 3.96/4.0!

look here and you will find the problem that i’m facing:

To successfully apply for admission to Auburn, you need to complete three forms.

1. Application for Admission.
2. Affidavit of Financial Support.
3. Supporting Bank Letter

Concenrning The affidavit of financial suppot, I can’t afford much money!! I can only afford 20000$!!:frowning:
What Should I do to apply successfully(to be considered for scholarships) to Auburn University?

Yes, Engineering!

Actually, I’m Not applying to any other University!! Can you Afford me a list of universities That award scholarships for Int’ls?

*Thxx Everybody, Actually I’m Planning to Apply for Fall 2011, so I have a Lot Of time!! Actually my SAT M=790;CR=700; and my GPA Is valued at 3.96/4.0!

:)

Well, thank goodness that you won’t be applying until next fall (be sure you get your app in next Sept or so - the earlier the better for scholarships!!!)

Since your M+CR is 1490, then you could get the Auburn full tuition scholarship - up to 15 credits per semester (if it’s still offered as it is this year.) :)

You’d also qualify for free tuition at several other schools with those stats (if schools don’t change their req’ts - at this point, it’s hard to know for certain.)

I’m pretty certain that the “financial statements” don’t have to be submitted to Auburn until the spring before you start school. I know that the website makes it sound like it’s part of the application process, but I’m pretty sure it’s not part of the “acceptance” part. It’s part of the “getting your visa” part. Email the admissions office after Jan 4th and ask, to be sure.

The University of Alabama would also award you a full tuition scholarship (up to 16 credits per semester). And, if you major in engineering, they would also award you an addition $2500 per year that would stack on top of the full tuition scholarship.

BTW…it’s important to see how many credits per semester a “full tuition scholarship” covers. For every credit over the limit, there is a significant charge for non-resident students (around $700 for each additional credit - so that can add up).

Thxxxx So much mom2collegekids, i was anxious before reading your answer!! thxxx
please Can You give me a list of Universities that can afford me a full tuition scholarship?!
thxxxx so much, ur so helpful!!!

Again, at this point, it’s hard to know for sure which schools won’t be changing their merit scholarships (with the economy, it’s hard to know what changes will come. :frowning: )

But, right now…

You’d likely get full tuition (with your M+CR score) as an int’l to the following schools…

LSU
Auburn
Alabama
maybe UMiami (I think they do give int’ls merit scholarships)
Tulane might give you a 50% scholarship, but they also have a high COA and only offer a few engineering programs.
Miss St. (but that might be too deep south for you.)
U Indiana might give you some merit, but not a full tuition scholarship
St Louis U - might give half scholarship
DePaul might give you some, not sure what their current policy is on int’ls, but they are trying to be more diverse.

Seton Hall might give you a generous scholarship (but I don’t know how much).
UIowa (not sure of its int’l rules)
Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles is generous to int’ls with high stats.
USC (I’m not sure what the do with int’ls but they do have good merit - but you’d need to raise your scores a bit - but you have time to do that. :)

I will have to do some more thinking…I’m sure that there are others…possibly Clemson, Texas Tech, Virginia Tech might give you good merit. Since you have $20k per year for a budget, you don’t need a full tuition - altho that would be nice. :)

Again, take both the SAT and ACT. Many kids do better on one than the other (and I mean a LOT better - some score in the 99th percentile on one and only the 95th -or lower - on the other.) Schools will accept whichever is higher.

BTW…since you’re only a junior, do take the ACT and SAT again. Schools will take your highest score, so you may increase your score and increase your choices of schools.

thxx so Much!!
I want to ask you one more question:
I’ve decided to retake the SAT one more time, I decided to take It the Next October.
I want to know if the date i’va chosen will be fine for me, because I want to meet the Scholarship Deadline!

For some schools, October may be the latest month to take the SAT for scholarship consideration. However, I wouldn’t only depend on an October score. I would take both the ACT and SAT sometime this spring, and then if necessary, take them again in the fall (before Nov).

I wouldn’t want to place all my hopes on one October test - you might not feel well that day.

Can I print and Send The Scores That I have Received By Internet To the University that I Desire? Because Auburn Mention in Their Website:
-Satisfactory SAT or ACT test results.

No. You have to have the scores set to them directly by college board. Schools do not accept self reporting of scores.

So I Must Send The Application, then the Scores?

When you sign up for your SAT and ACT tests, you can choose 4 schools to receive your scores for free. You can add more schools, but you’ll need to pay for them. It’s ok for the schools to receive your scores long before you apply. The schools just keep a record of your scores, and when your app comes in, you’re good!

As a matter of fact, once you list some schools to receive your scores when you take your tests, those schools will typically start sending you more info - and perhaps an invite to apply for free. :)

*Because Auburn Mention in Their Website:
-Satisfactory SAT or ACT test results. *

Most schools require that you have Collegeboard or ACT electronically send your scores. A few schools will accept scores that your school put on its sealed transcripts, but that’s not typical.

Take advantage of the 4 free schools that can receive your scores when you take your tests. If you take the tests in the spring and do well, then you can choose 4 different schools to receive your next test scores. That way 8 schools will receive strong scores for free. :)

As I wrote earlier, it’s totally ok for schools to receive scores LONG before you apply. My kids sent scores a year before they applied.
