I was initially going to apply for financial aid but decided not to after discovering that it lowers your chances of acceptance. Both I and my parents agreed to pay tuition for the first year. However, I responded with “yes” when it asked me if I was applying for financial aid. So, if I don’t actually fill out information for Clarity, will I have the same chance as other students who didn’t apply for financial aid? I would be very careful with this strategy. If you will need financial aid at any time in the next 4 years, you should apply for it. The schools need this information to plan for the future. Financial aid in year 2 will not be guaranteed.
If you are applying to Exeter or Andover, they are need blind.

The schools are aware of this trick. Whatever financial aid you get at entry will be similar for all years. You cannot suddenly apply for financial aid after your second year. Unless of course something happens with your parents finances.
If you need financial aid then apply for it. Don’t make your parents struggle.

The schools are aware of this trick, from what my friends told me its almost impossible to get financial aid the 2nd year unless something major happened like your dad/mom getting fired from their job or some major financial troubles happened.

I’m sorry to confuse you guys, I didn’t mean to only pay for the first year. I mean my parents are willing to pay the tuition for all of the years.
Also, I wasn’t aware that everyone was not applicable for financial aid. I thought all you had to do was apply. My parents wanted me not to apply for financial aid.

I would contact each school and let them know that was an error on your application and you are not actually applying for financial aid.

If you accidentally applied for aid, contact the school and tell them that you made a mistake. They will correct your file. Do not just let it slide.
