Financial aid question for SMC students (and other CCC students, too!)

<p>So, I’ve been getting financial aid up until this current semester. I filled out the FAFSA for the 2012-2013 year and they said I don’t qualify for a federal pell grants anymore since I got married and my husband’s income exceeds the max. I guess the EFC is too high? So I figured that was the end of financial aid for me and I’d have to pay for the books on my own.</p>

<p>Then today I got an email from SMC’s financial aid office telling me to submit an SAP form, so I did and the system tells me to check back for my award letter.</p>

<p>Does this mean I’m getting FA? Is there a way to receive aid from the school directly or the state or something? Obviously not federal…</p>

<p>It could have been an error–and if the money was erroneously dispersed and spent, you would have to pay the money back. Happened to someone next to me at my school’s FA office.</p>
