Financial Aid Question

This has been discussed many times here, even within the past few days.

And moving to a state with the desired intent of trying to obtain in-state tuition is not a “financial aid” question.

Also - residency is not handled by the Fin Aid office so trying to call them wouldn’t help.

The office that handles this issue is called the Office of Virginia Status:

[Virginia Status, U.Va.](http://www.virginia.edu/provost/vastatus/)

[FAQ, Virginia Status, U.Va.](http://www.virginia.edu/provost/vastatus/faq.html)

And don’t think they have not run into this before:

“If your parent(s) move to Virginia while you are in school … petition for a change of status effective 12 months after the move. If you entered classified as an out-of-state student, you must present clear and convincing evidence to rebut the presumption that you are residing in the State primarily to attend school. Residence or physical presence in Virginia primarily to attend the University does not entitle you to in-state tuition rates.”
