Financial Aid Question

Hey, I just got accepted into SCPS for Sports Management yesterday and I had a quick question. (I don’t want to rub it in anyones face, good luck to all who have not received their decisions yet). I have been reading the CC forum for the past 2 months and everyone has always said that NYU offers very little financial aid. In my acceptance package, it came with the financial aid information. It said that I received a SCPS Scholarship for $17,500 ($8,250 per semester). I wanted to know if this is a good amount of money or it is normally what NYU gives? Because everyone has always said that NYU does not offer much financial aid or scholarship, but I think that almost 2/5 of the tuition is pretty good. Is this a good amount? (Sorry, I am a first generation college student, and me and my parents are just curious.) Thanks in advance.

you’ll spend about $55,000 a year at NYU.
55,000
-17,500
=37,500

If you can afford to spend $37,500 a year on college, then you got fabulous financial aid. If you’re like the majority of Americans, and that would mean spending the majority of your income on college, than it sucks.
The definition of “good” financial aid for a family of four who’s income $200,000 a year and who has paid off their house is far different than “good” financial aid for a single mother of three who makes $40,000 a year and has two mortgages.

So, I guess the answer is maybe. hahhaha

NYU is constantly ranked #1 for students dissatisfied with financial aid, so considering that you got that much looks pretty good, but like Hannah said, if you are in a family that makes like $50k a year, that is pretty lousy, so it depends on your situation.
