So I am a high school senior and I heard many things about financial aid that I need to confirm. My brother is currently in college right now and I will soon be on that list and I was wondering if I will receive less financial aid because of my brother and I going to college at the same time?
No. If anything your brother’s EFC will go down with two of you in college. Your aid will be based on the schools YOU apply to. If you’re low income look for colleges that meet need. If you’re not low income look for places you can get merit aid. Look at the stickies in this forum.
Does that possibly mean my brother could get more money due to having a lower EFC?
He would be eligible to get more, but whether the school will actually give him more is a different matter. It depends on the policies of the college and how generous they are. Where does he go?
He goes to University of Houston.
