Financial Aid Response Questions

I know I might get a more thorough answer if I asked the Financial Aid people directly, but I wanted to see what other people might have done.

There is a July 1st deadline for further financial aid forms, including Loan Counseling, Self-Help and Outside Award, and the Student Information forms. I clicked on them today, but was told that I was unable to access said forms due to an “invalid security certificate” from MIT’s site. The same thing happened when I logged onto myMIT and tried the “Loan Entrance Counseling” link.

Message:

An error occurred during a connection to mitsis-sso.mit.edu.

SSL peer was unable to negotiate an acceptable set of security parameters.

(Error code: sslerrorhandshakefailurealert)

Is this error due to my not yet having an MIT “identity”? And will the Next Big Mailing contain the directions for accessing this identity? Has anyone else tried this and/or gotten the same results as I did from different MIT forms?

Any response greatly appreciated. I just want to make sure I’ve actually…y’know, officially enrolled. D:

Yes, you need a Kerberos identity to get MIT certificates. You’ll get instructions for how to get one when you get your NBM. Don’t worry, just wait a few days!

And once you have your Kerberos ID, you can go here to get certificates for your machine.
