Financial aid suspension from 25 years ago

My husband attended school and dropped out 25 years ago. I do not recall why he dropped out. I know we were struggling early in our marriage and I know he worked a lot but we have no way to provide documentation from then. The companies he worked for are not even around anymore. Any suggestions? I am not even sure how to tell him to word this. He was so excited to attend school. We didn’t even remember this from way back then.

I’m confused. When did your husband last work? Are you saying he can’t get any verification of his employment.

He needs to contact his prospective college…and talk to them. What he did 25 years ago may not be considered now. You have to ask the college.

So is he trying to go back to school and there is some obstacle? Not clear from your post.

he can get a statement from SSA that will show the years that he worked and his earnings for those years. It will not list the companies where he worked.

I’m thinking the OP migh mean that the reason for the aid suspension was poor grades due to working too much 25 years ago…and those companies are no longer in business.

Please clarify what you mean,

It doesn’t matter why financial aid was suspended, it matters if it was paid back. If husband defaulted on a student loan, he’s not going to qualify for another one until it is cleared up.

I would like to provide advice, but more info is needed. Exactly what did the school say?
