I got into EA, and received a preliminary financial aid package. When is the real one coming? Also, all I saw on the prelim was Grants and Loans. Does Chicago do work-study? I hope not.

Ha, now that I think about it, to expand this thread, how difficult is it to get a spot doing research at Chicago? A friend of mine is going to Gustavus Adolphus college, and gets to do paid research in the summer as a freshman-sophmore. Is this unheard of at Chicago?

Thanks. I emailed them about the financial aid date. No reply.

I was informed that there was tons of positions open at Uchicago…They are always looking for students, and coming from U of C, it will help you.

i think if youve sent all of the material, theyll notify you of the official fin aid pkg at the same time as they send out the decisions for RDers. they do do work study, im sure about that.

I’m not sure on payed research but apparently research positions are easy to land.

We have some family friends who do research at UChicago (Janet Rowley and her husband) and we met them for lunch when I visited. He took me into his lab (medical…a field I dont really have interest in) and while he was showing me around, some guy essentially offered me a research position right there.

Besides the final financial aid package, does anyone know when EA acceptees will receive notice if they received merit awards? I just looked at the financial aid website and it said “by April” but I seem to have March 15th stuck in my head…
