i was accepted today, but i have a whole bunch of questions. it says that i received four years of housing…does that mean the costs are covered or is this just something offered to everyone? also, i have not yet applied for financial aid at bc. does that place me at a disadvantage? also, i come from an upper-middle class family (i’m not rich either…my dad is a urologist and my mom is unemployed), so how much should i expect to receive? does it make a difference that my family and i lived in apartments most of our lives (got our own house when i was in jr. high) or is that irrelevant now that we are fairly well off? this is important to me because i often have conflicts with my parents and i really want to make myself independent of them and make use of their money as little as possible. thanks guys.

four years of housing is given to the top 15% of applicants (you still have to pay, but the room is there if you need it), most get only 3 years…as for the financial aid, i couldnt tell you whether you are now at a disadvantage, but with your father as a urologist, you’d be hard pressed to receive any money, regardless of your housing situation. (i may be wrong, but i think financial aid looks only at the present) most people who have discussed requesting financial aid on this conference have received very little money from BC, and sadly i doubt that if you were to receive any financial aid, you would probably not receive any more than them. get ready to bite the bullet and live off of mom and dad for a few more years.

i’m also wondering…i put bc on my fafsa application, so how come i didn’t get any aid from that? does bc only offer aid through their own financial aid program on their website?

You should probably give the Financial Aid office a call. That number should be in your acceptance packet. You do need to fill out a Profile application in addition to the FAFSA. Their office is very helpful, but you should be aware that BC is very frugal when it comes to money. They offer very little in the way of grants; most money offered is in the form of loans/work study.

4 years of housing just means you are probably in the top percentage of the class i believe in one of the other posts someone said the top 15% are guarenteed housing for all 4 years. its a perk i guess.

so does that mean that i have not even received loans?

If you have not applied for financial aid then as of now, you do not have loans. Once you apply for aid (do it immediately) you should at least receive the option of getting loans.
