Hello all! I had a little question about Olin…

Of course, I realize that Olin provides full-tuition scholarships to all students, but I’m afraid my family would likely be needing more than just that. So I was looking at the site and saw that if the expected family contribution would be under 12k, Olin would give out financial aid. However, looking through the site, I saw nowhere whether Olin performs need-blind admissions…

So my question is, would needing financial aid be a big determining factor in admissions? I mean, if it’s going to hinder my application immensely, I’d even consider not turning in a FAFSA and taking on student loans or something…

This would probably be a good e-mail question for either the admissions office or the office of financial aid. Their e-mail addresses are available from Olin’s website. I say this because I looked all around the website and did not find the answer to your question and do not know the answer offhand myself; I imagine that this is something very important that someone should address officially and not just on this forum. Good luck!

Actually, Olin covers all need, as demonstrated below, which is pretty nice.

Olin’s financial aid package looked like this:
Total (Room and Board, laptop, and tuition)- 44,600
Olin Scholarship- 32,100
Student contribution- 1,500
Parent contribution- 6,000
Thus, need-based aid was 5,000, and was just an Olin grant.

Thanks for your responses! Since those of you who responded seemed to just be speculating, I sent an email to Olin’s office of admissions… I’ll be posting back here soon about the results!

Hey Insomnia,
Olin in the past has asked for a copy of your FAFSA and your parent’s tax return from the previous year. Currently, the Dean of Admission Charlie Nolan is covering all financial aid questions if you’d like to email him. (Charles dot Nolan at olin dot edu - email address spelled out to avoid email bots). Regardless, your financial situation will NOT affect your chance of getting into Olin.
