My dad is deceased but my mom remarried, well amended the fasfa last year and i got pell grant money. But when my mom and step dad got there w2 they made more money then reported on the fasfa. what will happen since they made more money. Should my mom file seperate taxes from step dad so i can still get pell grant money they dont help me with college money i have a job myself and pay for every thing my self help? or can i file independently.???

How they file won’t make a difference on your FAFSA. Because they are married, both their incomes must be reported, as that is their household income.

You cannot just file as an independent student. You MUST report the income of both your parent and step parent. These are the rules. If this puts you out of the financial range for a Pell grant, that is the way it is. You cannot just omit information or change your filing status on the FAFSA. It does NOT matter how your family files its taxes, not at all. All parent/stepparent income must be reported AND you are dependent for financial aid purposes.
