Anyone have any insight/experience? Hours? Duties? Grades Required? Pay rate? Competitiveness? I was on LinkedIn and really liked what FA’s from places like Disney, Fox, Sony, etc. were doing after the job (although there wasn’t much information). Thanks!

Depends a lot on the culture of the company. For example, as a rotational analyst in the big banks, you typically work 50 hours a week. 8-8 is common but you usually work a bit more during the week and get off at 6 on Friday if there isn’t anything pressing.

Places like Fox,Sony, and media companies are lighter on the hours. You usually do your 40-45 depending on your position but you are expected to stay overtime for month ends and close. Depending on the company, month closing and board reports run up the hours to 60+.

FA typically make anything around 50-60k with and maybe a sign on bonus.

Entry level FA typically play around with Excel and use power point once in a while. A lot of vlookups and pivot tables. In most cases, you will be assisting with data entries and “building” financial models. PL,forecasting, budgeting, and pricing ect ect.

50-60k during the rotational program, or 50k when youre a full fledged FA?

Once you are hired, you are a full time FA. Some companies will rotate you. Bank standard is around 55-60k.

comment:
what is a typical signing bonus? Is there lots of room for growth, and if so, how would a salary reflect that growth? Is a 3.2 from NYU Stern sufficient to land an interview at a place like one of these? I would also like to be in L.A… Thank you in advance.

The only places I am familiar with that give entry level job sign on bonus are from banks. Typically you sign an agreement to stay for 1-2 years. Salary grows a few percent each year to adjust for inflation. People do big name brands because it opens up doors for future job searches.

If you work for a bank like Goldman or JP Morgan, a lot of their positions are structured. You can find their hierarchy online.

Sign on bonus range from 5k-12k but you only take home half because of tax.

If you are in Stern, you get a bidding system. You can go through the your career center and bid on interviews. Also, most banks will have a department in L.A
