<p>I stumbled upon this variant of consulting while surfing “Careers in Business.com”. Are financial consultants basically the same thing as financial analysts in M&A, or are they not at all affiliated with M&A/I-Banking, etc.?</p>
<p>Financial Consulting is really not a very well-defined term.</p>
<p>It covers everything from doing consulting for the person getting ready for retirement, doing tax prep work, and helping a company with their liquidity problems to the M&A to valuation prior to a IPO rollout.</p>
<p>To be blunt, the term is too broad. That is why people today usually refer to the more specific areas like M&A or Personal financial consulting or Tax consulting or Valuation Analysis.</p>
