Financial Engineering (Undergraduate)

I’m sorry if this has been posted before but I only found posts dated back to 2004/2005. Can any tell me more about this program and whether or not it’ll be able to place me at some well-regarded financial/consulting organizations such as Goldman Sachs or McKinsey? As well, how does it compare to other programs such as Management Science at Stanford in terms of placement? Compared to purely financial undergraduate schools such as Wharton?

As well, I’m currently a student (third year this fall) at the University of Toronto (Economics and Math).

Would a 2350 SAT, 4.0CGPA and leadership positions at some of the largest student organizations on campus and leadership awards at some of the largest charities in Canada make for a competitive profile? Would I be competing against Canadians or would it be broader?

I understand that at all Ivy league schools, admission is always considered a “reach” especially that of transfer students but I look forward to any insights/suggestions nonetheless. Thank you for your time.

Well you can’t transfer to Princeton, if that’s what you wanted to do. They haven’t accepted Transfer students for quite some time (since the early 90s I think?). Check here: [Princeton University | Eligibility](http://www.princeton.edu/admission/applyingforadmission/faq/eligibility/)

However, you sound like a candidate to apply to Princeton’s Graduate Program in Finance if you’re interested (you’re more than halfway through your degree at the University of Toronto, no?). They offer a Master’s in Finance through their Bendheim Center for Finance that is very highly regarded in the financial industry and quite sought-after. Read more about it here: [Master in Finance - Bendheim Center for Finance - Princeton University](http://www.princeton.edu/bcf/graduate/).
It, as you already know to expect, is quite tough to get into, but is worth the effort, I’m sure. You have to finish your undergraduate degree first, of course, but unfortunately not at Princeton. Many other fine institutions in the Ivy-league do accept transfer students though, if you want to transfer while an undergraduate you should definitely consider them. :)

Cool screen-name though. Nietzsche fan?

Thanks, and yes, it is a Nietzsche reference.

Thats sort of distressing since I was legitimately interested in it. I’m not sure if I want to get a Master’s. It’s expensive and its time consuming ( I think Oxford offers the same program but in 10 months).
