Hello. I am going to colledge full time in Florida for criminal justice certificate. I qualified for a fasa grant but this did not cover my tuition because I am being charged out of state rates. Is there any other grant programs I can apply for? I not only need to finish paying for my tuition I also need to pay rent and the car and living expenses. Again I am attending college full time 40 hours per week so I can not hold a full time job and attend colledge full time. What other funding can I get to meet financial needs while I attend colledge? It will take almost 6 months to receive my certification. Thanks for any help.
So you got a Pell grant. Have you taken the federal loans you are eligible for?
Are you dependent or independent student?
Why are you going OOS?
There aren’t other grants to apply for. Do you have an unpaid balance?
Are you saying you are attending classes 40 hours per week? Sorry, not believable.
Get a part time job…that will help.
This is good to sound harsh…If you were eligible for a Pell Grant, this means your family income is on the low side. How did you think you were going to pay the balance of your out of state college bills when you made the decision to go to this college? You knew the amount you would have to pay…and it sounds like it is not affordable.
If you can pay for this term, good. Complete it. Then look for more affordable options than an out of state public university.
You can go and discuss your situation with the financial, aid office. But likely all they will be able to give you at this point is information about loans.
How much do you owe for this term?
By the way, it is spelled “c-o-l-l-e-g-e”.
And the Free Application for Financial Student Aid is abbreviated “FAFSA”.
your best bet is to go to school in your home state so that you can pay in-state rate. Florida does not have a monopoly on criminal justice certificates. You can do this in your home state for a lot less money
Are you going to one of those FOR-PROFIT schools?
