Hi there! I’m currently in my first semester at American University as a chemistry major, but I’m looking to transfer next year and need some advice. The social scene here is not for me and I’m looking for somewhere with more sciences, ideally a polytechnic school. I need answers and advice on few points if possible.
- If transferring for the fall semester after my freshman year, will schools receive transcripts, records, and GPA from both my semesters or just the first one that has been completed already (since many deadlines happen before the end of my freshman year)? I want to bring up my GPA since Gen Chem 110 has been a challenging adjustment, and most classes this semester will yield at least a B grade or low A. I can do vastly better, but come from a very different academic background, and have been rapidly changing my studying style, with some sacrifice to my grades. (I’ve never received a GPA or letter/number grade before, so this is all very new!)
- Is it impossible to transfer into a polytechnic school after two years at a liberal arts school? Or might I have to extend my undergrad studies by a year to fulfill all requirements?
- I want to study chemistry, and phytochemistry after undergrad, any ideas of schools that would match my interests? Safety schools and reach schools are helpful.
- Any an all insights and suggestions about transferring are needed, and would be very helpful.
Thank you so much for any help, it’s much appreciated.
