Finding A Private College Counselor

Hi CC!

I’ve been a lurker for several years, but now that its my turn to apply, I decided to finally join so that I could pose a question that I can’t find an answer to.

First, a quick background on my portfolio as an undergrad applicant. I have all As, top 1% of my class, multiple leadership positions, extensive debate career, and also research publications. Based on these stats, I’m aiming for HYPMS (although I am applying to several other schools as well).

I am looking to find a private college counselor to help me manage my applications and help me tailor my essays to best fit my application and the schools I am applying too.

I live in houston, TX, and I would guess it would be ideal to have a local college counselor (what do you all think about this?), but am open for suggestions on finding non-local counselors as well. Does anyone know of any, or have any suggestions on how to find, private counselors that, most critically, have well established track records of garnering admission into HYPMS for their students, preferably in Houston, but if not, anywhere in the nation?

I appreciate any and all feedback!

Thanks,
Max
