As a new applicant, I’ve heard that finding out the specialization of the professor can make a big deal (ex. I’m big into ww2 history, so i’d want to attend a college where the history professor is specialized in that field). What’s the easiest way to look for that kind of info?
With a computer, browser software and an internet connection.
Looks like you are all set.
This is more important at the grad level where you work closely with faculty on your research. For UG you might scour the published course offerings at schools that interest you to see if they have deep offerings on 20th century World history.
Who are your favorite authors? See where they teach (some don’t BTW)
Where is Max Hastings? Rick Atkinson? Steve Zaloga? Paul Kennedy?
But at every uni, you’ll find people who have WW2 history in their CVs. This isn’t unique and not really an avenue for you to use to your advantage. If you intend on getting more than a BA in history, then also make sure you have a usable foreign language too.
