Finding award/honor opportunities

The awards my school offers are pretty limited and I feel my resume could use some bolstering. So far the only award I have to speak of in my high school career is for 3.5+ GPA in each grading period for all 3 years. Besides this, however, my GPA doesn't really help me; I'm nowhere near Cum Laude level. I'm a pretty bright guy however, (2190 on first SAT, poetry published in various journals), so I'm looking for some contests/awards on the national/state level that might help me stand out. My strong suits are writing, politics, philosophy, visual arts, or pretty much anything in the humanities.

Any suggestions?

ap scholar, you may already be one
are you in the honors program at school? you could add that

not sure if i qualify for ap scholar. i took us history as a sophomore and received a 5, and i am awaiting my scores for bio, lang and comp, and spanish.

my school doesn't have an honors program :/

Does your school have a speech and debate team? Maybe look into that. It combines writing, philosophy and politics and would really let you hone in on your interests and skills.
