Finding your place when you transfer

My situation - transferring after my Sophomore year on pre med track from state school to Boston College. I was a very good student there and I would hope to keep that up although the competition will drastically change.

I took organic 1 - physics 1 before i transferred. I am taking a year off to travel overseas and get some medical and language experience as well as EMT certification.
-I Will need to retake physics for sure since mine wasn’t calc based.
-Probably should retake org 1 at this school since most usually blend in with the org 2 class at that school. I was near top of my class in org 1 but… I am thinking this is probably my best bet.
-Any advise on class load to take first semester in a new school-for adjusting-social reasons-getting a feel-should I try and make up for lost ground- or take it at a normal pace and get the most out of where I am at and use the extra time to network

-Anyone tell me there experience going from a good state school to a top private school as far as the climate change

Coming back I will be the age of a senior but will be starting my junior year…not so bad but have any of you had experience with connecting at a new school… any hindsight advise?
I keep thinking the people my age group will be near graduating while I will probably need another 2.5 years to finish up…due to taking a year off for experience and needing to fit into the new program.
I am not really worried about it as I am confident in my choice, but I would enjoy hearing what it was like from those who have made similar moves.

~thanks

I made a similar move… It will for sure be quite a bit more competitive, and the age thing doesn’t really matter, you will meet some cool people for sure… Dont stress it.
I cant give you any advice on classes though…
