Fine, I didn't stop the tank at Tiananmen Square

Soooo first there’s rock bottom

then 50 feet of ****

then the firey pits of hell

and then there’s my calc grade

i was accepted, and accepted the acceptance to u of c. do you think i should worry about being rescinded? i don’t know if it will be possible to bring it up past a cringe D or C…

does LIFE count as a legitimate excuse?

You’ll be fine with a C. I suspect you’ll even be fine with a D since it’s just the one class. I also know someone who was accepted at Chicago (ended up going to another great school), dropped to Cs and Ds, and didn’t get her admissions rescinded. Good luck, and try your best to keep that great to a C.

I’m having the same problem… same class too.

I doubt ONE C or D will make them take it back- if you were to get ALL C’s- then I’d worry.

same problem, same class. wow…calc…

don’t worry about it. just do your best, learn as much as you can, and you’ll be fantastic.

Here is a copy of a part of Ted O’Neill’s welcome speech to the Class of 2009 that might make you feel better:

“We hope, just because you imagined that when you arrived you would catch a whiff of the corpse of fun, that you didn’t delay your departure. Maybe you thought…you got the wrong letter! Or, that we changed our decision – we found out that you didn’t study for your calculus placement exam, or read The Iliad, or memorize French idioms, or, that we really paid attention to your spring semester C- in AP Chemistry – that instead you went to the beach, de-tassled corn, or drank a root beer – things no University of Chicago student is supposed to do. But – we don’t make mistakes, and, stare decisus –the decision stands (for the next day or so, the Latin phase newscasters will take the most pleasure in saying), stare decisus, unless you really think those old judges didn’t know what they were doing – stare decisus – “you’re stuck” is the English translation.”

Chicago, as a general rule, does not rescind admissions. It is their belief that they’ve made a choice and that they are stuck with it. YMMV, don’t fail, etc.

ha! i guess they are stuck with me afterall

Actually, your main incentive for doing well in your HS classes is that you will be better prepared for Chicago! Work hard for that C, bendrumfront!

So, just got an A on my calc test…!!! my calc grade is only abominable now.
lol

thank you for the advice, everyone

Yeah I just got my 153 second midterm back… did not get an A on it… nor did I deserve it but, but I thought I’d done better… so see, prepare thyself, for this is just the beginning of your calc frustrations!!! lol… congrats on the grade!!!
