First Big Midwest Snowstorm!

Can’t pretend I’m going to like it at all! Just DREAD snow - wish I could get over that!

I believe Chicago is getting it now…will spread east, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio definitely affected. I’ve heard anywhere from 4-12 inches. Said goodbye to the grass for a bit this afternoon. Sad day.

Who’s got weather going on? Be safe with shoveling if you must!

I’m in south central Wisconsin. It has been snowing since 3 p.m. or so and up to a foot is predicted. I got all my weekend errands done by early afternoon. My dog likes the snow; me, not so much. But I prefer snow to really cold temperatures, which we’ll be getting next week. Sigh.

We also did errands today. Tomorrow I’m planning to stay home and bake all day. I don’t mind the snow if the streets get cleared before I have to go out again. I saw the predictions- 9-11 inches in our area- and thought at least we should have a white Christmas this year. With the cold next week, I’m guessing this snowfall may stick around the yard for a while.

OMG, Mr. B just returned rom a business trip to Detroit. I feel so lucky - he escaped the snow there and here, too. Stay warm and safe, everyone!

We’ve had estimates of everywhere from 4" to over a foot here. I’m between Ann Arbor and Detroit.

Mr R did a big shopping trip today and we stocked up on some dry wood just in case.

I have a baby nephew that was just born last weekend in Chicago. My SIL sent me pictures of BIL’s shopping trip today. It consisted of everything new baby could possibly need… if they were snowed in for over a year. It was adorable

We’re expecting lake effect snow on the west side of Michigan, primarily tomorrow. We had 6 inches overnight Thursday and not much yesterday despite the forecast of 5 more. We had about 2 more today.

My sister flies in late tomorrow night from Oregon—we will see about delays. I suggested she get the hotel shuttle (she’s staying near the airport) to pick her up and shuttle her back to the airport for a car rental pickup on Monday. She hasn’t lived in Michigan for over 35 years and is wary of driving in the snow.

Shoveled twice tonight, snow continues to come down. Good thing we, too, have baking day planned for tomorrow. Bought the rest of needed supplies this afternoon in anticipation of snow.

Please dump lots of snow on the mountains outside of Salt Lake City.

That’s a little out of the way of the midwest @jym626 !!!

I’m waxing the cross country skis and the Subaru is gassed up! Finally winter has arrived!

Just hope it doesn’t snow on Friday so my daughter can leave Boston for break. August was a long time ago, I really want to hug her.

ummm
Grew up in Indiana and lived in Illinois and Pennsylvania.
Gads! the height of the snow in these places!
I remember my car being snowed into a drift for nearly a week in PA.

Have now lived in Oregon for 30 some years. Two days ago we had a few inches
of snow and high winds --30mph–and ice.
H and I were trapped for two days as we live at an altitude of 807.
When I see it coming I buy groceries and cook and cook and freeze food for later
Today a friend tried to visit and found all three ways to our home closed due to
electrical wires downed. She did make it but then did not make it later to her family
holiday part for the same reason (drove around both times with a 13 month old in her
car).

While all of you get the cold and the snow at least your city knows what to do.
When our city gets this every 5-10 year it comes to a standstill.

Stay warm, read good books and COOK up a storm and, if you have electricity, freeze it.
BE SAFE!

@abasket.
Maybe the midwest can send the snow to the slopses!

It’s going to be 72 degrees in Dallas today. I kind of envy you guys who get real winters with snow. I’m sure it can get old, but I love being cozy at home while the white stuff falls outside. Driving in it, no, and the fun stops when the power goes out.

Hope everyone stays safe and warm.

@TooOld4School, I don’t know where you live but you and I are on the same path! H keeps asking where can we go to ski!

We want all of your snow here in northern Michigan! Everyone here wants to ski, XC ski and snowmobile. Unfortunately not quite enough snow to groom the trails yet. I’ve got Nordic ski racer bookmarked and checking it daily.

Woke up to maybe 2 inches of powdery dry snow. My dog enjoyed his first winter walk in the snow. Me, it was fine…but I hate the whole bundling up, boots and figuring out where the sidewalk ends, where the curb is, etc. - people aren’t too quick to clean things up! Much more expected later today. I actually have a work event all afternoon so I won’t be staying home to bake though that sounds good!

@romanigypsyeyes I am planning a trip up to your “area” tomorrow (Plymouth) for a funeral - post an update sometime later how things are up that way! I’m hoping by mid morning tomorrow the roads will be cleared.

Oh, I hope we get more than coating. I’d like to try out my new snow shoes. I am giving up my x-coutry ski.

Getting snow and/or sleet tonight but turning to rain tomorrow, so looks like it’ll be a slushy mess.

Our weather channel forecast is screwed up. It says…cloudy for today…and rain tomorrow morning…but the hour by hour says snow…and the description for tonight says 3-5 inches.

Guess that’s what they do when they really don’t know!

@thumper1 ha ha!
