First born D Turning 25 - looking for clever "25" ideas

D1 is turning 25 soon! Going to visit her this weekend and celebrate. Got an idea this morning that I should somehow celebrate this milestone - 25. Was thinking about things like 25 gifts to open (some obviously small tokens!), $25 gift certificates - that kind of thing.

Surely some of you have had 25 year olds or DO have 25 year olds coming up - any clever ideas to celebrate quarter of a century??? (Maybe 25 quarters!!!) ;)

Interesting! My 2 Ds are turning 25 soon as well. Seems they have so many more pressing needs for gifts, winter coats and the like, that fun is less a concern. Looking forward to ideas.

Silver necklace?

Quarter century is a big thing in Sweden. My room mate and I got beautiful cognac metal cups from her folks. Sadly, I didn’t do anything for my kids. S turns 26 in a few days and D turns 24.

Greatlakesmom, this is true - D did forward a “birthday list” (we still encourage our kids to make their lists - makes shopping easier!) and honestly most things on her list were extremely practical and do-able - exercise shorts, sports bra, cast iron skillet, pot holder - I can’t argue with those practical items!

Silver necklace - great idea. Cause “25” is silver, right???

Yup, 25 is silver anniversary. I think I actually got my D a small sterling silver spoon which she uses in her sugar bowl today. She likes tea.

Frankly, 21 was a bigger milestone. I do not remember 25 for my older, it was way way too long ago, nothing special though. I always give real gold or silver jewelry to my D. and GrandD on all occasions. I know what stones each of them like. I buy them on great sales or in Mexico. There is nothing else to give to females after certain age. Boy is much harder to figure out.

25" sterling silver chain necklace?

^Way too long. Mine woudl not wear it.

I took a different tack for my daughter’s recent 25th birthday. She was expressing some angst about turning 25 (of the “oh no, I must really be an adult?” variety), so we celebrated her “inner child.” She was in need of a new shower curtain, so I got her one covered in dinosaurs (a childhood favorite thing) and bought her bathroom accessories that were all dinosaurs. We bought her some board games and got her a couple of DVDs of favorite childhood movies that we only had on VHS tapes when she was growing up.

25 long stemmed roses placed around her place after someone lures her out to coffee/walk.
Print out 25 little pictures of her, one for every year of her life and tie one pix to each rose.

The pic idea is really cute! Not sure if I could get that together by Saturday though!!!

We did the silver jewelry.

Get all her elem, middle and high school pictures that is 5 years thru 17 years old.
Put the pictures on white letter size page- go to Kinko’s color xerox the pages, cut out each and glue to card stock, punch a hole and tie to flower with thin ribbon.
The rest can be of beloved pets, pictures of her on various sports, dance teams, whatever but it has to be 25 pictures of her life.
Carnations, silk flowers if roses too pricey.
Real is always better.
Be ready for her to cry…

I was reading this thread as I have a son who will be turning 25. He is most happy about the thought that his car insurance cost should drop considerably! I will keep reading to see if I can pick up some ideas for his birthday.

kitty-
How about cooking lessons, sessions with a personal trainer, skydiving, rafting trip, boxing lessons… something fun for your son?

We just took our kids out to a very nice historic hotel restaurant in DC. The waitress gave us complimentary champagne and S a complimentary sorbet. It was lovely. We celebrated D turning 24 and S turning 26. Sadly, didn’t do anything for S turning 25. May have to do something when he turns 30 instead. Maybe we will do something next year, when she turns 25 and he 27?!?!

Silver jewelry is something D sometimes wears. S isn’t much into jewelry.

Also did it up for 21st b’days for DS’s but not 25th. That said, what about getting her a bottle of wine from the year she was born? 1989 had some nice wines!

-I love making photo albums. I am doing them all time for everybody, S. and his family, D.
It looks much better if you scan them and do a Shutterfly album. We have done many for free (with the coupon), we would pay only shipping of $8. Everybody loves them. They are hard cover ( can choose soft also) and allow text. You can put lots of funny comments, choose various layouts, backgrounds.
