<p>I’ve been using the search function to see if I am a first generation student, but see conflicting answers. At Brown specifically, would I be considered a first generation student? My dad only has a high school degree, and my mother has taken a few classes at a community college, but hasn’t received a degree or certificate. Thanks.</p>
<p>I don’t work for admissions, and I’ve never seen an official definition from Brown, but I’m pretty sure you’d be considered first generation.</p>
<p>You would be the first generation of your family to be receiving a college degree. They don’t mean whether anyone ever had a course or two at the community college.</p>
