ACADEMIC BACKGROUND:
—Went to well-regarded international school freshman year, achieved mediocre grades (3.45 UW average) w/ most rigorous course load available for freshmen (honors math/science)
—Starting Sophomore year transferred to top competitive boarding school in the US w/ 20% Ivy/Stanford/MIT acceptance rate. Was in top 10% of class for second semester of sophomore year. 1st Semester average: 90.5, Second Semester average: 94.2 (steady upward trend in quarter grades). Note: school grades on a 100 point scale, describing a 95 average to be the equivalent of a 4.0 UW.
—Completing 2 semesters of maths over Sophomore summer to take 1 semester of Honors Precalculus, 1 semester of Differential Calculus in Junior year
—Junior year Course load: Honors Physics, AP Biology, AP Chinese, AP English, Honors Precalculus/Differential Calc
- This course load is described to be the most rigorous option for a Junior at my school by college counselors. While the school does not have AP classes, I labelled these as AP because they are of at an equivalent or more difficult level despite sometimes veering away from.

TIES TO SCHOOLS:
Direct legacy at two HYPs— Grandfather and dad undergrad at one of three. Mother, Biological Aunt, Mother’s brother in law, Great Aunt’s husband all undergrad at another one of three. Both parents are relatively active alumni but do not donate notable sums to their schools. One parent is heavily involved with an organization with direct ties to the University and also interviews international students.
WRAPPING IT UP:
Chances applying ED to either of the two HYPs w/ my legacy status? Where else should I be applying and what do my chances look like for schools such as Wesleyan, UCB, Amherst, Williams, Penn, Duke, UVA, Michigan, and Georgetown?
