<p>first generation means that your parents haven’t been to college before; you are the ‘first’ generation to go to college. </p>
<p>I have no idea the weight, being a junior still myself. All I know is that for super-competitive schools, it can give a slight advantage. And you need all of those advantages that you can get.</p>
