Hi, so like most people on this forum, I’m very nervous about EA results and I wanted to know how large of an impact being a first-generation applicant usually has. Is it as significant as URM status? Is it as meaningless as NHS?

Thank you and Good Luck!

Depends where you’re applying & the current applicant pool, I would think…

Well I applied to Georgetown early, but I was wondering for admissions in general

Oh, not sure about Georgetown…but in general…it would depend.
Say 1,000 applicants happen to be FG in a particular applicant pool it would have less of an impact than if 200 applicants are FG…which is why I said it was dependent on the current applicant pool.

My guess is that it helps about as much as affirmative action.
