does the first round consist of the admission office onlly looking at grades (gpa and scores) adn then throwing out those who werent academically good enuff. and then the second round is where they look at ppl of diff backgrounds , ECs, etc.?

It’s holistic (besides the fact that it’s illegal, I doubt Brown has cutoffs for SAT/ACTs and GPAs).

They take a look at the whole picture.

As it was explained to me:
The reader for your region will take a look at your entire application, and then will pass it on to one other person who will also evaluate it. The two of them decide if the applicant is fit to move on into the second round, in which one or both of the first readers, depending on how much they liked the applicant, will present the application to the entire committee.

This much is a promise to you: at least two people will give a fair and holistic evaluation of your application.

oh thank you! hopefully they wont jus look at grades at first cutoff like u guys said. my gpa/sat’s are the only thing that is a bit lowish.

There is no first cutoff. There is no cutoff at all.

Is it really illegal to have cutoffs?

ohh i misunderstood. and how are they illegal?
