I’m a junior and my grade this semester is devastating. It’s not like I’m taking any over challenging courses but i just had to get used to my teachers grading style and such.
I’ve never had this much B’s in my whole life lol!
I currently have 4 B’s and only 2 A’s. ( 4 AP courses). This is so embarrassing and I only have two weeks to bring these up.
I know I can get a way better gpa next semester but I’m worried that colleges will just reject me since junior year is the most critical yr :c
So here’s my question,
is the first semester gpa more important than the 2nd semester gpa? or do they look at it as the same? I’m going to apply to UCs and oh god i’m so worried T-T

I would normally argue that they are the same, but in this case, a positive trend from first to second semester may look good. As much as colleges like to see high grades, they also like to see improvement.

Also, breathe. It’s ok - not everybody out there is a stereotypical CC’er, and as long as you’re not hoping for Harvard, B’s are not bad grades.

It kinda depends on what AP classes you are taking too. Obviously colleges realize the difference between the hardness of AP Physics B/C and something like AP Environmental Science.
However, I wouldn’t necessarily say your chances are over. Just do better next semester and get a high SAT score and you’ll have great shots at Berkeley and UCLA I would think. As for your question I don’t really think colleges distinguish between the two. It also helps not to be Asian or White.
