First Time SAT Taker - Analyze Score

So I am from Canada, I wrote the PSAT (only 5 out of 1000 in my school did) but have never taken an SAT. I read through the College Board Online Course and I took the first test in the Official SAT Study Guide Book. I entered my scores and this was the results… would you say this is decent for the first ever practice test?

Subject Scores or Score Ranges
Critical Reading 580 - 640
Writing 590 - 720
(MC: 57-67, Essay: 10)
Math 620 - 680

not bad. Depends on when you’re taking the test and how much time you have to prepare.

im taking it in january 24th or something like that… christmas break basically just started so im going to go hard for the next couple weeks then continue to the test day

So right now you’re looking at about a 1900–maybe 2000 if you study well these next few weeks. Whether this is a good or bad score depends on what universities you plan to apply to. It’s not nearly enough to get you into Harvard, but you’d be a shoe-in at 85% of state universities. I assume you’re a Junior, which means that you have almost a year to retake the it, so if you want to aim high there’s certainly enough time to get the score you’re after. List some universities you’re interested in.

k, i am from canada play baseball and some schools have requested my sat score so i thought id write the test…

schools that i have talked to about playing for:

John Hopkins
Emory
Dartmouth
Cornell
Penn
Penn State
Brown
Columbia
U of Chicago
William and Mary
Northwestern
U of Arizona
Northeastern

As you can see alot of the schools are pretty high end academics. Basically my advisor said on academics alone I’d be a long shot but she said that she has had kids who played hockey and lacrosse who got into Harvard and Princeton with SAT scores of 1800 (the two hockey players play in the nhl now, thus they were amazing college hockey players).
Right now with baseball I know its a longshot for me to get into one of the top end schools (Arizona St., North Carolina, Oregon State) and have got some interest in Ivy League schools; however, I’ve only had to show them my gpa (4.0)

if you’re a recruited athlete, a 2000+ SAT will place you nicely in many of your choice schools. it’s really not that hard to achieve 2000+. work on the math first, because it’s the easiest to improve. next, move on to writing which generally involves techniques and rules you can easily learn online. lastly, for CR learn vocab and read as much as you can, and most importantly, learn strategies.

2000+ is very much possible.
