First Year GPA And Admissions

Hey ccers,

I’m sure everyone’s familiar with hopeful premeds who struggle first semester and still want to be doctors. Kids who were great students in high school suddenly get grades that never before appeared on one of their high school transcripts. Sure, it’s a transition.

Any advice for premeds in this situation?
Do adcoms appreciate a change in habits and pulling that low C+ average to a solid B+?

Going to a B+ average is insufficient in general. One or two C’s, even a semester worth, is a problem but can be overcome. But it requires more than a B+ average.
