I’m using a fitbit to track activity but also want to be able to track food also. I have WW but it seems to pull in activity from fitbit but not calories/food into fitbit program. What do people like? Myfitness pal or others. I’m kind of done with WW but do like the fact that I can create meals and track them (instead of having to enter individual items), especially for breakfast where I eat the same few combos of food frequently. Not sure if other food tracking apps will let me do this.
Many other food tracking apps will allow you to save a meal. LiveStrong used to.
I was just searching for compatible apps this morning for FitBit products:
https://www.fitbit.com/compatibleapps
I use the app TwoGrand. It’s photo-based food logging, kind of like using Instagram. It’s not a calorie tracker but you could record that as a comment under the picture if you wished.
I use My Fitness Pal. There’s an iPhone app as well as the web-based one for the computer. I think it has the best food database.
I just got the fitbit charge HR so not sure if this applies to your fitbit.
There is fitbit phone app that you install on your phone. There is a food log section on the app. My fave part is that you can focus the phone on the bar code of the food and the info is all pulled up into the food log.
I use fitbit but add my own foods to the favorites list if I can’t find them in the drop down. I did not want to have to manage two different locations even if they will/do sync. As long as I’m accurate in entering food and quantity even on the drop down food items it seems pretty accurate. If I upgrade I’ll probably go to the charge HR for the scanning and the heart rate monitoring.
Yoho, I actually didn’t know fitbit had it’s own tracking until I got it since I seemed to see so many people use fitness pal. I also need something that has a good database for gluten free food - I hate having to create foods. Just wasn’t sure if people used fitness pal because it was better or because fitbit didn’t have the food tracking early on or if it just wasn’t as good.
I really like MyFitnessPal and it syncs well with the Fitbit app. MyFitnessPal (MFP) is easy to use, has a great database and can store favorite meals, etc. On the iPhone app, it also will prompt with “frequently paired with” so if I enter something I commonly eat that is a part of a typical meal or subset, it will automatically pull up the other info. So if I start to type romaine, for instance, it will tell me I frequently pair it with tomato, cuke, balsamic vinaigrette, etc - just a handy feature. And being able to just scan bar codes for nutrition info is great. I’m a big fan of MFP as well as being a huge fan of Fitbit.
I use MyFitnessPal also. Happy enough with it.
