I have had a broken fibula once and limited range of motion from a shoulder. Was referred to PT for each of those things. After the sessions paid for my insurance ended recently, we opted to continue paying to keep seeing PT for guided exercise (like a personal trainer).
There are more isolation ab exercises like sit-ups, v-ups, planks, etc., but I’d recommend combination exercises/movements such as squatting, bench press, overhead press and deadlifts do work the abs really well too. Under the guidance of a knowledgeable and experienced coach to begin with, of course.
Went wedding dress shopping again. The good news is that I fit in every dress I tried on a size smaller than the one I bought for the first wedding a year ago. The bad news is that in these kinds of dresses my GUT can’t be overcome. womp womp I stood there thinking “How does that Cool Sculpting thing work?”
I biked 30 miles Monday, 39ish yesterday, and 45 today. Great biking week. Plus I biked last Saturday (40) and Sunday (28 or so). Tomorrow I will be home waiting for a new fridge delivery, but the weather looks great to be outside.
Good job! I say try other styles… there is probably a dress that you are gonna rock exactly the way you are.
I agree with @Colorado_mom ! There are tons of different outfits, styles and fabrics. You have time. Don’t settle for anything that makes you feel bad about your body!
There are lots of lovely dresses out there that don’t require us to be runway models and still look and feel lovely!
I went with the purple one … oh, I posted it on another thread! lol Head over to the wedding thread if interested. I tried it on in a size smaller than I had in the store and with heels and I love it. Purple is my favorite color, and it’s so stretchy and easy. I just threw it on over my head and didn’t even unzip it. It’s very forgiving in terms of weight loss or gain. Dh LOVED it. The groom said I looked classy, like Michelle Obama. I’ll take it!!!
Yay! Class like Michelle Obama is a great look. Congrats—great price, great dress! Score!
Feeling like I’m back into a better rhythm. Coaching is a blast and is definitely helping with my step count/exercise minutes
Me, too! I have jump-started my mojo.
Yay… did a 5k today for the first time in a while. Vacationing at sea level, so even when out of shape I had a decent time.
I continue to do my thing. I’ve done a lot of outdoor riding lately which has been great. I rarely miss a day of at least an hour of exercise. Usually I get more.
Next week I’ll be watching the grand-dog for the first time without her “parents” here. I’ll get lots of exercise walking her.
Ran another 5k today, when earlier/cooler. It’s not enough to offset the other excesses of vacation time. But better than not exercising
A “sorta” quick update for me.
Tuesday, I took the day off. We took D21 down to San Luis Obispo to begin her freshman year of college.
Back in the gym on Wednesday, where I hit two deadlift PR’s (a total of 6.5 lbs) and I think I had one more in me, looking at the video, but I quit while I was ahead. I’m nearing a major (for me) number milestone and I’d like to hit it in the Powerlifting competition in 3 weekends. The HIIT was a combination of higher volume lighter deadlifts and rope climbs.
Yesterday (Thursday), I worked on the bench press. I hit my usual weight for a single. But I have a problem with the commands that will be given to me, which are “start,” “press” and “rack.” A gym buddy, who is experienced in competition helped with the yelling of the commands. My problem is that I have a tendency to rack the weight before the command of “rack” is given and I’ll be red-lighted for that mistake.
My deadlift is by far my worst lift.
The Thursday HIIT was about a combination of toes-to-bars, (squat) cleans and 50-yard sled pushes. The whole megillah took me a little over 29 minutes, IIRC.
I’m going to push back my Spartan Race 1/2 to a later date. It’s tomorrow, but I have other more pressing things to take care of tomorrow, unfortunately.
Made an impromptu trip to see my mom, and maybe for the first time ever had NONE of the ice cream in her freezer. Major win!!!
As expected, the start of soccer made find the grove pretty easy. I easily met my exercise goals and had great step counts most of the week.
My Apple Watch logged me at 11 miles yesterday. I did a 3.5 mile walk and then a 4.2 mile walk. The rest was “supporting” my son who did a 100 mile bike ride (With 10,000 feet of elevation gain - I was impressed).
