It was mild pain, stopped a few minutes after I switched to walking. It didn’t hurt during the short runs (to keep warm) later. A less cautious person probably would have kept running. Once I was back onto the sidewalk part of the trail with access to civilization (which would enable car pickup if needed), I had considered reverting to a run. But I decided best to just take it easy.
Just figured I’d check in. Still playing pickleball 3-4 times a week, and occasionally biking indoors, because it’s too cold for me to ride outside.
I walk or elliptical on the other days. I need to step up my biking to prepare or a 14 day bike trip in February.
Happy update - had a nice run today, no calf pain. I had intended another day or two of rest, until looking at weather forecasts. Took advantage of the 48 degree / sunny weather (minimal wind, yay). Was delighted that the trail was totally dry, except one very short stretch that aways stays wetter. Time was slow, fine by me. Fun surprise - hubby passed me on the trail, out riding his new ebike.
I’ve decided to keep running for now but a little less. I did two miles today because my usual trainer was doing a rare Monday Zoom workout that was supposed to be all stretching so I knew I would get more activity. Well, that’s how I interpreted what she said. Really glad now that I only ran two miles as we did lots of skaters and burpees and other aerobic stuff in with the stretching. I had closed my move ring by 2.
Checking in. We spent a week in Europe doing a Christmas Market Cruise up the Rhine. We got in tons of steps every day. We have been back a week and between work and getting ready for Christmas, I have done very little. I had to skip soccer to testify at a county board meeting
I was ready to give up closing my rings Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I didn’t factor in our dog visitor. I walked close to 5 miles with her, and she got another walk for over a mile. She is sacked out now and will sleep well.
Enjoyed nice weather this week and did three 5k runs, adding additional distance (2.5k, then 3k, then 3.5k the last day). Company here now so not much exercise, unless you include the stomping and clapping in the 4th quarter of the Broncos/Patriots game.
I am trying not to fret too much. I was really (relatively) happy how I looked through mid November and now notsomuch. This week is definitely ugh. Don’t look in the mirror. But then I read a post from the guy who made the peogram I am starting. He said spend this week eating whatever you want and enjoy the time with your family. Starting January 1 you’re committing to an intense program. Just enjoy your life and don’t worry about it. Just what I needed to hear.
