Fitting in at USC

Would it be easy for a conservative, white jock that doesn’t party very hard to find a lot of friends at USC because I am under the impression that USC is more of a liberal/artsy school. Thanks.

This a refreshing twist!

Though universities in gereral tend to be liberal, USC is often considered to be a bit more conservative than many. A conservative jock will fit in just fine at USC.

Good luck!

I suggest that you go on the student tour to visit USC in order to see if you think you will fit in. USC is a balanced university with enough choice of majors, clubs, friends, and activities that you should be able to find your fit. Also, I am not sure “liberal, artsy” is the correct impression–rather, I think “talented and creative” may be more general view of the school.
If you can look at the USC year book, you will get an idea of the kinds of active clubs available at USC.

You’re bound to find someone who have the same interests and lifestyle as you! (If not, then similar). It’s definitely not hard to fit in at SC! Just get out there and meet people and start figuring out who you enjoy hanging out with!

Thanks guys. I visited the campus over the summer but did not feel that I saw an accurate representation of the student body. Thanks again for the help.

and there’s also a LOT of people from norcal who i def. seem to connect more with

when you say “Though universities in gereral tend to be liberal, USC is often considered to be a bit more conservative than many.” do you mean that usc is still liberal but just not as ultra-liberal as some of its peers like berkeley? or do you mean that usc is more conservative than it is liberal?

usc is definitely not more “liberal/artsy”, unless you’re comparing it to a school like Pepperdine, which is more conservative and “traditional” in terms of being religious.

so would you say, out of the two, usc is more conservative than liberal?

Depends on where you are, what classes you take, who you hang out with, what professors you have, etc.

USC is such a large school that it’s difficult to put it into one category. However, in terms of most CA schools, USC tends to be on the more conservative side. But on a national scale, I’d say it’s probably more liberal than most private universities. Either way though, you’ll many both conservative and liberals on campus.
