<p>Each year the SSA of the US publishes popularity rankings for all names given to babies in the past year. </p>

<p>I, personally, am rooting for my own name, Cole. As you can see from the chart below, it has slowly been rising over the past 50 years. It’s only a matter of time until it’s in the top ten.</p>

<p>Okay…don’t know why this is in a college message board, but I’m gonna guess my name made it into the top 10…Mike.</p>

<p>Probably a good guess. Michael is #2 for the moment, but I think Joshua has improved enough to surpass it this year, so that might change.</p>

<p>My name was 6th back in 92 and has been on the decline ever since. Hooray!</p>

<p>Interesting. Jennifer was #1 for girls for 15 years 1970-1984. It dropped out of the top 10 in 1992 and in 2006 was #51.</p>

<p>Jacob must obviously be manipulating its numbers; it wasn’t even in the top 20 in 1980, it must be using deceptive waitlist practices and massive merit aid to lure away the top children to bolster its ranking. The nerve of Jacob… </p>
