Does anyone know what it means to have your application flagged? Is it good or bad?

Who told you it was flagged?

badddddddd

oh no my application isn’t flagged, but I’ve read a lot about flagged applications in other threads and I don’t know what it means.

what is that actually and why would college flag your application, besides how would you know?

Is it beacuse they would keep it as a record if you would ever reapply or transfer?

It can depend on why it is flagged. I know that if a coach wants you to attend the college they can ‘flag’ your application.

It could be good, bad, or meaningless. Some hypothetical cases (not UVa cases):

Readers could flag items that schools are required to report out to leadership or the government.

They could flag for special programs (honors programs, scholarships, etc.).

They could flag for bad mid-years or a disciplinary program.

“Flag” is a pretty generic term in admission and it doesn’t necessarily carry a negative or positive connotation.

thanks Dean J!!
