Flip #7 Mid Century Modern Mold

Blue,coral,green

I like all three, but taking into consideration the tree and the fact that chartreuse gets lost when you stand far enough back because it blends into the yard, I think the teal blue is the winner.

Teal, coral

Coral, teal for me even though I would normally go for blue first.

Wow, that was fast! We almost have a quorum:) Chartruese is out and I’ll try to find a larger piece of drywall to paint up as sample boards of the coral and teal. I tried using the Behr or Benjamin website visualizers to paint up the door, using an uploaded picture. The colors painted on the screen do not look anything like the colors in real life. So I abandoned the visualizer.

I like the teal and original turquoise the best. You have an earlier photo of the entire facade with both the tree and the coral, and to me they clash.

Original Turquoise, Teal, Coral.

Marilyn did some rough mockups of the door colors in Photoshop to show the entire door in the colors. I loaded them to Flickr. I agree… chartreuse is out.

Teal. It makes the door pop. It signals, “This way to incredible panoramic views of the hills and clear skies.” Red is nice (love red doors), but the signal is different. Home sweet home.

Back to lighting… sorry Consolation but the Sputnik got installed in the entryway. I personally love it. It is a great statement piece as you enter the door.

I like the last one that is linked above for possibly the dining area

Just based on the pictures, I think the 8-arm Sputnik is a little sparse for such a large space.

I think the 12- or even 16- arm light would have more impact.

Late to the party but I like both the teal and the coral, and although I am usually a “blue” person (and NOT an orange person) I think the coral edges out the teal, but both are great.

cb, when do you expect to put the house on the market? It seems you’re getting close to the end.

Since others have voiced their favor towards the original turquoise, I will, too. The Gray on the house is a strong color, and the original turquoise is a strong color/shade. To my eye, the door needs to be a strong shade. But if the original turquoise is no longer a contender, then I vote for the teal. Keep in mind I’m not a fan of gray, so that could be affecting my choice.

I loved the original turquoise as a color, but when I color picked it to the whole door in photoshop, it seemed too garish, for lack of a better word. The teal works much better.

The Sputnik light pictures reminded me that the door color will be very prominent inside when the front door is opened. So which color goes best with Sputnik? Blue, of course.

MARKET DATE

Originally I was targeting end of August to go out to market. But gee… it’s August 23 and I don’t have the flooring in yet!!!

Flooring got delivered yesterday after days of delivery and stock debacles. I’m still waiting for the foam underlayment and the T mold transition pieces which are on ‘backorder’. The flooring guys are not going to start working on the floors until Monday and there are several days of concrete floor prep required before we can start laying the floors. I am going to guess the floors will not be completed until 5th and then we have to put in the baseboard.

So, next week while the floors are getting installed we have to put up some 5/8" drywall in the garage to create a fire wall. I did not think we were going to have to do this but the building inspector dropped by last week and did a walk through. He said we have to finish up the fire wall between garage and family room so we are going to have to build a soffit type thing (over all those cabinets we already installed!!! it’s going to be a nightmare). Then we will madly finish up minimal landscaping to get ready for Open House

My guess is about September 14

“So which color goes best with Sputnik? Blue, of course.”

Haha. I think you’re biased.

Looking at the photoshopped mockups, I’m still on Team Coral however I don’t think any computer generated mockup will reflect a true portrayal due to lighting, each person’s device’s interpretation of color, brightness, etc.

Late to the party but I’m Team Coral.

I’m going to jump in and vote teal. Too much orange on the neighbor’s roof to fully appreciate a coral door.

Having given my opinions along with the rest of the peanut gallery, I hope you ignore our advice and look at the options in real life. It’s impossible to gauge color on a mock-up that lacks the light specific to the site. Monitors skew colors as well. Whichever one you think looks best as you stand in front of the house and take it all in is the best choice IMO.
