Can someone PM me link as well, please.
Just had a look at the photos. Wow to the mould and balcony issues! Very excited to see the finished product. You never cease to amaze me @coralbrook
Please pm me the photo links too thanks
Did everyone get the link to the photos from others??
The light fixture really is stunning in real life. Provides drama but does not block the view. Now he is struggling with every other fixture in the house, including all the other lights in the house and basic toilet paper holders:). It really is a ‘just in the nick of time’ thing around here. We still don’t even have a toilet for upstairs bath!
FYI on those drawer lights. They were all missing from our main delivery. I had to spend an hour on the phone with IKEA and it turns out they are discontinued so he issued a refund to owner’s credit card. Then I had to scrounge around and find them in stock in Burbank. He sends his brother (who lives in Burbank) to buy them and drive them down to San Diego. And so far it’s been 5 hours of labor to get them installed. There are so many wires, plugs and transformers everywhere that we are trying to meticulously hide in the back of cabinets in a nice looking way. The little sticky clip things that come in the IKEA package don’t work so we are into 2 rolls of white duct tape at this point. I estimate another 2 hours to get finished. But owner loves them.
He is spending a fortune in time…and some money on something getting hooked together with…duct tape? OK?
@coralbrook I think so. I got it from @2VU0609 and then payed it forward to gosmom and lassie3. It changes the website name to **** on my kindle - don’t know if that is the case in all devices - so I have to spell it out with spaces when I PM people.
Yes on all devices. Even in PMs.
Ooh could I get the link too please? I hadn’t looked in a while and didn’t realize we couldn’t see the picture anymore.
We are about to embark on our first big renovation and I love reading this thread. Both for ideas and for learning how not to behave once we pick out a contractor! Lucky for whoever we pick we don’t have a ton of money to spend so everything should be pretty simple - no lights in my drawers or crazy lighting. :))
I would love the link. Thank you!
I hope your bachelor is getting those fancy blinds that adjust automatically to the angle of the sun.
I still have the link and it still works fine for me. What’s going on?
I didn’t have it for this - just for the last flip
If you bookmarked it, it will work. If you paste it into cc, it will bleep out the site name rendering the link useless.
We are at a Standstill
Yesterday the kitchen countertops got installed. But, we couldn’t cut out the holes for the kitchen faucets because we don’t have one.
We cannot finish installing the upstairs bath vanity because we don’t have the faucet - it has to get dropped in first before you can set the p trap and everything under the sink to hook up the plumbing.
Cannot install anything in downstairs bathroom because owner has decided he doesn’t like some of the glass tile. We have been fighting a losing battle with the glass herringbone tile. It turns out the stock on the shelf all comes from different lots. We discovered that one of the lots has obviously different glass tones than the others. Of course the tile guy just went ahead and installed it all and we have a big blotch of weird tile. I spent hours tracing the Lot Nbr and it is only in stock in their Santa Ana store so we are waiting for another box to come down from Santa Ana (with shipping costs of course)
Installing the countertops was a nightmare because the kitchen sink (which didn’t arrive until Friday night) is too big for the kitchen sink cabinet!!! He ordered a full 30" wide very deep single bowl sink (with all kinds of accessories and doodads). When you have a 30" sink cabinet, 1 inch is taken up on each side for the sides of the cabinet. So that means we have to try to drop down a 30" sink into a 28" opening. Hours were spent with lots of tools to cut out, router, chisel, etc both sides of the cabinet. It is an ugly war zone under that cabinet and we lost support for heavy countertop on both sides of the sink. Now we are going to get underneath there and have to install wood bracing on both sides of the cabinet.
Basically the inside of these cabinets are not a pretty sight. Between hacked pressboard walls, gaping cuts, plugs everywhere and white duct tape holding a zillion light cords!
Cannot continue work on the fireplace or kitchen until the flooring is installed. I really pushed him to buy the same flooring that I installed in the mid century project because I had already spent weeks evaluating all kinds of flooring against those walnut style kitchen cabinets. I was not going to start all over again with that decision Flooring arrives Thursday and we start installing on Monday next week.
Cannot install any lighting because we don’t have any!!!
Cannot install all the interior doors because they haven’t been delivered yet or painted. He cannot decide on interior door colors. We are between a charcoal grey or a soft turquoise. I have samples up everywhere for door colors. Cannot install any door trim because the doors have to get installed first in case the door jams need to be shimmed or rebuilt.
Cannot finish any kitchen installs because the dang cooktop isn’t here yet
Yesterday, I finally drove to Lowe’s and picked up the toilet he wanted. Ove Beverly which is the streamlined style of toilet. It is a very good looking toilet BUT!! After being installed for 24 hrs, caulked in and everything, my carpenter decided to open up the little view hole on the side and noticed water inside the unit. We had to tear the whole thing out to find a small leak whre manufacturer had put some goo stuff over each side underneath the toilet bowl. It was leaking everytime the toilet was flushed and water was shooting through those small holes under the rim.
Photos loaded. Hope you guys can see the group photos.
Man… CB, you are a saint dealing with this dude. I would have blown my gasket by now! I ordered every freaking faucet and sink for both House1 and House2, but I was running around with a tape measure and printouts of install instructions before ordering the stuff!!! It all fit! You can’t just look at an Internet photo and hope that it fits!! Send him off to Costco for the faucet and get done with it. B-)
I think Tom Hanks was in this movie. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091541/
Also, Murphy’s Law: Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.
Ahahaha! Good one.
So what’s with the goo in the toilet? Was that a manufactuer’s mistake? Was it not supposed to be there? Should it have been removed by the installer? Or was it a manufactuer’s attempt at a fix of some kind??
I thought this guy was in some hurry to move in since he rented his condo to someone else. So…why is he dilly dallying on decisions that need to be made.
Don’t worry about the insides of the sink cabinet. He didn’t ask for lights inside that ?
