I love the blue door!
I love the blue door too! it’s perfect!
Whew!! Happy the vanity made it all in safe and sound. It is very attractive. I like the blue door. It’s like a bright little treasure when you get up the stairs to the entry and in the pictures it is complemented by the blue sky.
Blue door looks stunning in the photographs. Really. And vanity looks great! And is that a glimpse of the ocean view I am seeing from the bedroom window? So beautiful!
I was in San Diego for depositions last week in an office building on the bay in a conference room with the world’s most stunning view. (Building was right in front of where a cruise ship docks). OMG. Rivals any view from any conference room in San Francisco. For some reason, it had never hit me just how beautiful the SD bay/ harbor is. I was thinking about your little house with the stunning views as I dealt with the jerks on the other side of my case.
Yes, the view is stunning from this little house. In my personal opinion San Diego Harbor rivals any harbor in the world, very similar to Sydney harbor. Coronado bridge across the horizon is just stunning. BTW, its 80 degrees here today for all of you back east
We spent the New Year’s Eve in a waterfront hotel in SD. Despite freezing temps, we LOVED it! I’d move there in a heart beat.
The door is just right - a marine blue (not to be confused with the dark blue of our Armed Forces Marines)
New Year’s Eve was the coldest I have ever experienced in San Diego. It was freaky cold.
“New Year’s Eve was the coldest I have ever experienced in San Diego. It was freaky cold.”
I know! I was amazed that even the unusual cold did not deter the partygoes from their plans! We spend the entire day absorbing the awesome views from our balcony. It is a great place to live!
When we were in San Diego three years ago for New Year’s Eve, the fog was so intense that we used our Garmin to find the corners to turn since we couldn’t see far enough ahead. We had just arrived in town the day before and didn’t really know our way yet. We had reservations at Island Prime with window seats. It was a lovely meal then just before midnight, the fog lifted and we could see the whole harbor. Stunning indeed. We went out on the C Level patio for the countdown with complimentary sparkling wine and hats and noisemakers. Then we went back to our table for dessert. I would do that every year for the rest of my life if I could.
There’s a reason why we’re moving there - at least we are as soon as we settle on a house. DH is pickier than me but within a month he knows he’ll have to start more compromising. So far we’ve been outbid on one and have a bid on another that we’re unlikely to get but we’re trying. It really is a hot market in coralbrook’s neighborhood. We’ll probably move just as soon as it starts getting lovely here in Chicagoland.
I gotta say I am not in love with the blue door. I don’t think it goes well with the green siding color at all.
I think the blue door looks really nice against the blue sky in the pictures.
I love the door also.
Another vote for the blue door!
I’m going to put some more coats on that door to try to ‘darken’ up the color a bit. I need the door color to get away from a green tone so that it looks better next to the green
I agree that the blue door is GORGEOUS!!!
Hi, I’ve been following since the beginning, and am amazed at what you have accomplished. I agree with going for a blue door as you’ve shown, but think the current blue is too warm. I think you need a colder blue, less red in it, which is what I think you’re getting at, when you say darker. But still a marine blue, not a navy blue. Looking forward to the final photos, as I’m sure you are too.
New here – I have looked at this thread several times but where is the link to the recent pics on flickr? I see the link on page 1 but I don’t want to look through the most recent 109 pages to find a more recent link!
My agent visited the project yesterday and she loves the blue door also. But I am still going to try to make it darker/colder blue with more coats. Hopefully that will work. It is not turning out like the swatch. Gee, like that never happens when you bring the paint home and get it into the specific light of the room or exterior !
We made some decisions about staging the property, I wanted to make sure that she understood the ‘look’ we are going for. Unfortunately she doesn’t have the exact furniture we need and we are going to be scrambling - probably a lot of white slip covers over her existing couch and dining chairs. Ideally we would have sold this before we needed to do the staging
I was going to build a bench seat in the curved dining room to better fit a nice round table, but that project is just going to have to fall off the list. I’m concentrating right now on designing the deck because there are some engineering challenges and I need to find some design for the back fence in the courtyard that will cover up the ugly fence and bring some interest to the back of the courtyard. Going to the reclaimed wood store again today and might get old pallet planks that sell for $1 each and create a wood wall with some interest.
Finished grey washing the little beam in the hallway for the barn door installation and spent a lot of time searching the Internet for the least expensive door hardware. I ended up with black color hardware, but I don’t think it will make a difference in the long run. The stainless hardware was just too expensive.
Today we start sanding the floors!! Hopefully I can load some pictures later today
