Flip This House #5

I like the arabesque because it ties into your use of it elsewhere.

I like the arabesque, too! I actually saw a wall of arabesque tile in the kitchen of one new construction home. It looked awesome.

To add to what Consolation said, if your tile person can use epoxy grout on the stove backsplash, it would be a marketable thing.

I third the arabesque tile. I think it fits the best with your overall vision for the house.

Arabesque should nicely match what you’re already using in the house – good idea.

I personally love arabesque tile but it will probably be one of those “what were they thinking?” things 5 years from now. But I don’t care because it makes a great statement. I may look for one that is a larger format or a slightly better color

Do you have an arabesque area rug for staging (not the kitchen, but elsewhere)?

Can you use tin ceiling tiles as a backsplash? This would go with the cloverleaf inserts: http://www.metalceilingexpress.com/metal-ceiling-tiles/pattern-134-four-clover-leaf

Otherwise I agree with the arabesque.

Cool tin ceiling tile. I wonder if I could use that someplace subtle in the house as an accent

i think the tiles are all too busy.
I vote for “just slab backsplash and pay for a large slab to be put up to the bottom of the stove vent”

I agree with Menloparkmom. The geometry of the area is already complicated; adding busy tiles will take away from the geometry of the space. I’d go for the simple, luxe look of a single slab.

If there’s any way you can find money for the slab backsplash, I agree it’s the best choice. It will be gorgeous and reads very upscale. With several different colors, materials and combinations thereof in the space, I’d do my best not to introduce anything new as backsplash.

I would be concerned with any metal tiles other than ss next to a stove. Acidic fumes and splashes from cooking might do them in quickly. I picked the arabesque because it was less busy than the other choices and fit the overall vibe.

Echo the slab black splash here.

I’m for the slab as well. The kitchen is really the hub of this…and you don’t want someone to be turned away by a design statement behind a stove. I think the all of those tiles are nice…but not in the kitchen. I vote for consistency…if you are getting the same thing for the 5 inch backspash…get it for behind the cooktop too.

If not SS, I’d go for the slab. Look at the view out that window! That’s what people will want to look at.

I generally dislike elaborately patterned backsplashes. Again, all I see is trying to scrub off grease and tomato splashes. The simple but gorgeous glass in the Liberace house was the best thing about that kitchen, to me.

OK, no problem with the cost of slab. Since I will have to order another piece of the quartz marble, they can easily get a slab out of it for the backsplash. I’ll just need to get on their schedule as soon as I can!

Issue solved! I like that idea. Easy maintenance!

I just realized that I have two 36" cuts left from the kitchen counters and he can use one of them to make the backsplash!

Excellent!!

Great news!
