Just got a call. We have a big wig flying in from Chicago who wants to view the house tomorrow morning! I am going to be busting my butt starting at 7am to get that house clean. We have been very successful getting the basement cleaned up and we are ready to go to town with a big sprayer and just paint everything white.
I’m hoping that the French Normandy/Spanish style is unique to him and he’s not looking for a contemporary style house.
Marilyn is loaning me her Cub World Series banner. I just have to figure out where to stage it. Over the front door is probably not too discrete
We also have a White Six cap. Several Bulls championship T shirts. A copy of the Tribune when the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup - signed by Coach Q. A photo of Coach Q holding the Stanley Cup when he was Grand Marshall of our 4th of July parade ( he lived in our old home town). And I imagine we must have something with the Bears on it.
Good idea! Just leave the jersey lying casually on the back of the chair…or maybe make it a little treasure hunt. Shirt hanging in the MBR closet, cap on the telescope chair, photo in the office…
I do not think I would put anything Chicago sports in the house. You want them to focus on the house…not the Cubs. But you could put that big banner in the back window of the truck…and park it out front!
It has been raining hard here all night and skies are socked in. Unfortunately they may cancel driving around looking at properties plus the views will not overwhelm any visitors today! I’ll probably run around cleaning, setting a nice fire in fireplace, hanging the banner and staging something else that is important (I’ll reveal later if I feel it is appropriate) to no avail
I’m really surprised at the number of people looking at this time of year. On the other hand, I expect these are “mature” families, so perhaps they’re not at the mall.
VH, it is all about mortgage rates. The 1% increase (from about 3.5 to 4.5%) between Nov and now makes homes much less affordable for many buyers who need a mortgage. And more uncertainty is on the horizon.
Lots of non-retail workers are able to take take time off around the holidays because work naturally slows because the folks they need to network with are out. I’m actually not that surprised there are folks flocking to view your house now. They want to get it before someone else snatches it up!
My S and H both noticed their fed jobs were slower around the holidays, as is many of the state govt jobs.
Reporting in that the rain stopped a while ago and there was even a brief hint of blue sky. Which is now gone. At least the buyers can get out on the decks.
Another reason why people might have time off work is that some companies (like my brother’s) are cutting back on carryover vacation days so employees have more use-or-lose.
